WASHINGTON — Claiming that it’s tired of being in the spotlight all the time, global warming has decided to take a well-deserved break after a very challenging 26-year run. “I’m just tired,” it said last week in a statement delivered by a Washington public relations firm. “I’ve gone at it for more than a quarter of a century. I gave it my all, through thick and thin. It’s time I take a break.” Immediately following the announcement, global temperatures dropped by a half of a degree centigrade, causing many of the world’s glaciers to creep forward about an inch. A large arctic ice sheet also expanded, saying it was thrilled by the news.
